Embers Preschool Program offers children the opportunity to learn through play, which is the work of childhood.

Preschool Program

The Embers Academy Preschool program, which includes PreK3 and PreK4 classes, engages in the learning process through developmentally-appropriate lessons and activities that foster growth physically, intellectually, emotionally, socially and spiritually, in alignment with the overall mission of Embers Academy.

Faith Formation

Our Preschool students have daily formation in the Catholic faith and and the monthly Virtue is integrated into their activities.

  • Weekly All-School Mass
  • Monthly All-School Rosary
  • Introduction to Catholic prayers and devotions
  • Instruction in church rituals, including Sign of the Cross and Genuflection
  • Visits to the Blessed Sacrament
  • Image of God (Ignatius Press) and Catechesis of the Good Shepherd curricula
Literacy & Writing

Children explore language and develop early literacy skills.

  • Heggerty Phonemic Awareness curriculum
  • Handwriting Without Tears curriculum
  • Develop writing skills and artistic expression
  • Develop letter recognition and letter sound awareness

 

    Mathematics

    Play opportunities nurture a natural exploration of early math skills.

    PreK3

    • Counting and recognizing numbers 1-10
    • Recognize colors and shape
    • Daily calendar time

    PreK4

    • Singapore Dimensions Math Curriculum
    • Count to 100, recognize numbers 1-20, and write numbers 1-10
    • Solve simple addition problems
    • Identify name and value of coins and understand how to tell time to the hour and half hour
    Play & Experiential Learning

    Preschool establishes a foundation of natural curiosity in the world and a love of learning.

    • Opportunities for multi-sensory activities cultivates learning
    • Daily recess and outdoor time for gross motor skill development
    • Singing, dancing, and art projects encourage artistic expression and language skills
    • Time in the “Embers Town” playroom to nurture positive and creative learning through play
    • Motor Lab twice a week for physical motor and sensory experiences and skills development

    Several programs are available in both PreK3 and PreK4:

    Three-Day (M/W/F) Options for PK3 & PK4
    • Half Days, 8:10 a.m. – 11:30 p.m.
    • Full Days, 8:10 a.m. – 2:45 p.m.
    Five-Day Options for PK3 & PK4
    • Half Days, 8:10 a.m. – 11:30 p.m.
    • Full Days, 8:10 a.m. – 2:45 p.m.
